I admit I have to work a little to get my head around the 6th amendment. I've never been a criminal, nor a criminal lawyer so I have never given much thought to any of these items. However, with all I have heard about ICE arrests, I am starting to understand. What if I had to stand before a criminal trial, even if I was innocent. If any one of these 5 rights were missing, I can only imagine a very long time sitting in jail.

Amendment VI

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to
a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury;
be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation;
be confronted with the witnesses against him;
have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor;
have the assistance of counsel for his defense.

Speedy is relative, must cause real prejuduice, but judge can throw out the case.
Public is not an option of defendant's
Impartial can be challenged after the fact if clear juror bias demonstrated.
Compulsory process includes both subpoena and bench warrant to arrest.
